A Grandma by any other name...

When we found out our first grandchild was on the way, we wondered what we'd be "called." Nana? Poppy? Gram? Papa?

I remember my mother wondering the same thing when I was expecting our first. Imagine their amusement when Ben got his sounds mixed up and Grandma and Grandpa started off at "Muk-ga" and "Puk-ga." They eventually became "Grandma and Grandpa."

When our first two granddaughters came along, we became "Gamma and Gampa" --- and have evolved to "Gramma and Grampa." However, our grandson (the youngest) has dubbed us something new and unusual.

We are "Bubba and Bubba" --- and lately, just "Bub." It cracks me up to hear, "Hey Bub! What doing?"

The joy we find in the grandkids in always there... we're learning to read with one, working on enunsiation with another... and trying to keep all the names of different trucks straight with the third...

Not to mention the fashion statements we see with the girls... :)

Bub-hood is wonderful... LOVE IT!

FOLLOW UP: We found two dead voles in my egress window... I've taken the hole-filled screen off and am thinking of installing an exit ramp for the unwelcommed visitors, complete with a red EXIT sign and arrow.

Things that go bump in the night...

A little critter... I'm guessing a black vole like the one pictured here got into my egress window well last night... He/she tore holes in my screen, trying to climb out.

Of course Gracie (the cat) had to check it out, which meant the bedside table contents flew, the window shade got mutilated, and my sleep TOTALLY interrupted around 3:30 a.m.

I did fall back to sleep, but had a dream that I looked out my bedroom window to see chipmunks, 2 dogs (one standing on the other's head), and assorted other furry creatures were partying in the window well... Exhausting!

Voles must be nocturnal... once the sun came up, he/she is nowhere to be found! I'm guessing it's hiding under the rocks until I'm sound asleep again tonight.

April FOOL!

C'mon, Mother Nature! It's been a helluva week already and you have to spoil my TGIF with SNOW? I fail to see the humor in that...

...unless the office calls a Snow Day and sends us all home early! That'd be nice... no foolin!
