Alpaca

My sister, granddaughters and I visited an Alpaca farm last weekend.  The weather was perfect... and the animals were all so sweet and happy to see us!

This is the "Old Man" on the Alpaca farm. He is deaf and blind.  He spends most of his day in this position - and became the featured alpaca in my drawing (below).

We didn't catch a photo of Alpaca getting applies right off the tree, but Georgia described it and it also is included in my drawing.

New App!

Oh, I'm having fun with AMAZIOGRAPH!  The tools and palette are very crude, but the fun of creating patterns is keeping me busy!  I'm hoping the Art Studio upgrade includes this option.  Meanwhile, I'll keep playing!

What are friends for???

I needed help assembling this:

A cute convertible bench/table!!!

I bribed my BFF to come over with Jimmy John subs and Mike's Hard Lemonade.  It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes, but we did it!!!  There was only one part we assembled wrong and had to re-do it... We held off until we were done to relax with Mike... (Good thing)

The old (purchased in 1976 with my brother's Gimbles discount) picnic table held a lot of good memories, but it was time to let it go.  It was too big for our tiny patio and needed someone with some carpentry skills to fix it up.  We carried it out to the curb and bid it farewell.

Some neighbor hooligans must have had a little party with it overnight... I set it upright again and placed an ad of a Facebook page.  When I got home at noon that day, it was gone... Off to a happy new home!

Anyway... The project inspired a couple of things... This drawing kind of says it all... I'm the one turning green!

Playing with Text...

Just something new to play with :)
The possibilities are endless and will probably be an addiction for a bit...

"Water" coloring...

I've been playing with a water color brush on my drawings lately... I'm enjoying the effect!

A little calico kitty with a favorite toy.

Three girls and a pup...

My mom and us six kids!  Happy Mother's Day!

Another happy kitty

Don't sleep and draw...

I worked on this "salute" to March the other night.
I guess I tried to add some finishing touches after going to bed!  Not a good idea!
Here is the mess... And then the fixed up version...
Scribbles scribbles!  Look at the eye lashes and messy white lines!  Oh dear!

I need to hide my iPad after bedtime!  Hahaha!!!

Slumber Party

My sister was in charge of "Activities" for the 2016 Knit-In event in Madison this week-end.  The gathering started off with a Pajama Party on Friday night.  This was handed out as a "Coloring Sheet" for the guests...
There were many workshops and more than 30 vendors.  My sister did a great job organizing a "tea party"

And "Pin the Wool on Ewenice.'  Blindfolded knitters (some with a glass or two of wine in them) pinned wool on  a poster of this mostly naked sheep...

I went for one evening of fun... And met so many wonderful knitters!

What Have I Been Drawing?

A little bit of this... And a little bit of that.... Figuring out different ways to color my drawings.  I'm loving the "water color" effects with a brush tool in Art Studio.  I'm also learning to love plain white backgrounds!  Here are a few other "water color" drawings.

I recently ran into an old friend I hadn't seen in 20 years at the grocery store... Our greeting went something like this:
(Yes, we've both gone gray over the years...)

My annual Leprechaun for St. Patrick's Day:

I doodled up this gal... She looked like she had news to share.  I put her in an office thinking almost anyone would welcome such a visitor on their work day.

........still on track with A Drawing A Day!  I even have some extras drawn up!  Woot! Woot!

Bucket List

I've figured out what is on my Bucket List.  I want to observe Disney/Pixar artists at work.  I just got home from Zootopia... I watched in awe of the artwork.  The cartoonization (is that a word?) of so many animals... Their expressions, movement, gestures, emotions... AMAZING!  I know there was a story there - and I enjoyed that too... But I was totally absorbed in the animation.  I guess I always am when I watch Disney... And Zootopia did not disappoint... Only confirmed my desire to see first-hand how this all works!!!  Kind of reminds me of the inside tour I got to do years ago at Hallmark... Sigh... My heart beats for all the artistic talent in the world!  So --- who can arrange an animator's dream for me?

Full Blown Panic Attack

I came home from work and plopped in the recliner... No Daisy...  Daisy ALWAYS comes to greet me.   I watched tv and called for her. No Daisy.  I looked for her for an hour!  I looked everywhere including inside the dryer... I went outside and looked for tracks, cursing myself for not getting her chipped... I got a flashlight out and checked under every bed... Calling to her... "She always comes when I call her," I thought.

My imagination ran wild.  In my mind she got outside and was lost forever, frozen in the snow.  I thought maybe she was dead in a corner somewhere in the house.  In a closet? Box? Laundry basket?

Tears flowed... I couldn't stop looking and calling for her... My heart pounding, I couldn't make myself calm down.  I wanted everyone to stop what they were doing and help me find her.  I guess our son finally realized how upset I was.  Within minutes, he found her under the bunk beds, behind some treasures stored there by our granddaughters... Daisy sleepily walked out and looked at me as if to say, "Woman! What is your problem?  Can't a cat get some sleep around here?"

I guess she's growing up and not my Velcro kitty anymore.

I guess I need to learn to "let go" a bit.  Let's snuggle awhile first...

---typed in my bed with a kitty playing with her favorite pipe cleaner toy and happily purring as if nothing happened.  Well, I guess nothing did happen - except I found out how much I love this fur ball!

A(nother) New Year!

Happy 2016... The year that will see me turn SIXTY-FIVE!  More and more things point out to me just how old I am...The prices of things... The layout of the city... How school days were structured... What was on tv (remember when Soap Operas and Game Shows ran all day? )... How we entertained ourselves... And how we communicate.

We used to write letters and make phone calls.  We used to email each other... Now it's all "texting."  Encyclopedias have been replaced by the Internet.  Our grandkids will never know the wonder of going to the shelf to pull out the right volume of The World Book to find answers to various and random "ponderments."

I USED to draw with paper and pencil!  I haven't done that in so long, it's hard to remember.

Turning SIXTY-FIVE, I wonder what I'll miss in the years to come.  How will we communicate?  What will kids be playing with?  How will we get from one place to another.  It also makes me think of how the world changed in my parents' lives... How their tales of days gone by are now my stories... The world didn't stand still as I aged.. And it won't stop changing ever!  Things my parents never imagined have happened... And as hard as I try to picture the future... Who knows what will become part of our lives.

So --- as my personal landmark looms ahead, I snuggle down in front of a large screen tv that weighs a mere fraction of ones of days gone by... I type on a blue tooth keyboard to my iPad (another wonderment) ---LOOK MOM ~ No WIRES!  And set off to today's commitment to "A Drawing A Day" with my pointer finder dancing across my iPad screen... And here are some offerings from 2016!
